On Saturday, 21st September we are utterly thrilled to welcome BAG OF CANS back to The Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds, alongside very special guests THE VITAMINS.

BAG OF CANS are a five-piece band birthed from the effervescent swamp which is the Norwich music scene. They have weaved their way through the musical ranks on a sound described as “a gloriously surreal mix of old school indie, Weimar Berlin cabaret and Kinks circa Village Green Preservation Society”, garnering a reputation for their invariably hectic live shows and on-stage antics. Sinewy guitar lines glide between a relentless rhythm section and a penchant for indie-pop vocal-harmonies. Following a string of singularly sardonic singles, their much-anticipated debut LP ‘We Are A Band’ – released last year on Fierce Panda – did not disappoint, offering relentlessly hook-laden anthems of self-effacing kitchen-sink pop majesty; and as a coup-de-grace, the band swiftly followed with brilliantly-named single ‘Colchester Leisure World’. Expect mayhem and magic in equal measure.

Formed in the early ’10s, THE VITAMINS were a crucial part of Bury St Edmunds’ transformation from thrill-bereft wasteland to thriving musical valhalla; emerging in the wake of the total collapse of Bury’s gigging insfrastructure, their super-sharp garage-rock salvos inspired countless aspiring musicians and promoters to emerge from their bedrooms and build a whole new scene, releasing three super-sweet singles and one LP in quick succession before abruptly disappearing. Their recent, equally abrupt return means a whole new generation of gig-goers gets to behold their glory.

As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve also got Norwich’s math-punk-art-rock-genius duo FEASTS, rising punk heroes MANIC STANLEY and avant-noise astonishers OI NAH. Rejoice!

THE HUNTER CLUB IS A SAFE SPACE
We take audience safety very seriously at The Hunter Club, and strongly believe that gigs can and should be safe spaces, free from harassment, intimidation, prejudice, bullying and violence. We expect that all artists, venue staff and attendees will respect our values, and we have a zero tolerance policy towards those who do not. Anyone who endangers the enjoyment and safety of others at a Washing Machine night will be ejected and barred. It is unfortunate that in the 21st Century we still have to say this stuff, but we hope that by doing so we can help to create an atmosphere where everyone feels safe and able to enjoy themselves.
